Out now:

Gone

On ITV and ITVX

On ITV this Spring is a six-part psychological crime drama, inspired in part by my first book, To Hunt a Killer.

Gone, starring Eve Myles and David Morrissey, is a cat-and-mouse thriller about what happens when the wife of a domineering headmaster vanishes.

Det Sgt Annie Cassidy, an intelligent but overlooked detective, is appointed his Family Liaison Officer.

Gone is a work of fiction, the concept devised by the award-winning scriptwriter George Kay. But parts of the story are influenced by both the professional career of Det Sgt Julie Mackay and our book - which focuses on how she solved the 30-year-old cold case murder of Melanie Road - which is a true story.

The six-part series, directed by Richard Laxton (Mrs Wilson, Burton and Taylor, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe, Joan), is co-produced by New Pictures (an All3Media company) and George Kay’s Observatory Pictures, in association with All3Media International.

Gone also stars Jennifer Macbeth, Arthur Hughes, Nicholas Nunn, Elliot Cowan, Billy Barratt, Rupert Evans, Jodie McNee, Oscar Batterham and Clare Higgins.

You can find out more about To Hunt a Killer on this website’s dedicated book page.
